Celebrating Lab Week 2025

Every year, there’s a moment in healthcare when we pause… not to look ahead at what’s next, but to recognize the work that quietly makes everything else possible.
That moment is Medical Laboratory Professionals Week (Lab Week).
Next week, on April 19–25, laboratories across the country will celebrate the people behind the scenes who play a critical role in patient care every single day. It’s a week dedicated to recognition, appreciation, and connection within the lab community.
Lab Week isn’t just a calendar event; it’s a reminder. It reminds us that behind nearly every diagnosis, every treatment decision, and every clinical insight, there’s a laboratory professional who made it all possible.

There are roughly 300,000 clinical laboratory professionals in the United States today. It’s a workforce that has been essential to healthcare since the early 20th century and has only grown more critical as medicine has advanced. Yet much of their work happens out of view, away from patients and often outside the spotlight.
That’s part of what makes Lab Week so important.
As highlighted by the American Society for Clinical Pathology, Lab Week exists to raise awareness, celebrate the profession, and give teams a chance to recognize both their impact and each other. It’s about honoring the role laboratory professionals play, not just in processing specimens or generating reports, but in advocating for patients and ensuring the accuracy and quality that modern medicine depends on.
If you walk into a lab during Lab Week, you’ll feel the difference right away. There’s usually a little more energy, fun, and conversation. Some labs go all out with themed events, decorations, and shared activities. Others keep it simple, bringing teams together over lunch, recognizing individual contributions, or sharing stories that remind everyone why they chose this field in the first place.
You might see a photo booth set up in a break room. A puzzle slowly coming together between cases. A playlist running during lunch. Teams swapping favorite case studies or even building a shared recipe book to take home.
But beyond the fun, there’s something deeper happening.
Initiatives like the ASCP Laboratory Day of Service, held every year during Lab Week, give teams a chance to step outside the lab and connect their work to the broader community. It reinforces the idea that what happens inside the lab has a real, lasting impact on patient lives.
At Voicebrook, Lab Week has always been important. In the past, we’ve focused on supporting our clients by sponsoring meals, contributing to celebrations, and helping labs take a moment to recognize their teams. This year, we wanted to do even more.
So for Lab Week 2026, we’re expanding how we show up. Throughout the week, members of the Voicebrook team will be traveling on-site to visit and celebrate with 25 of our client laboratories. These visits aren’t about presentations or product discussions. We are there to support their celebrations and show our appreciation. We couldn’t think of a better way than showing up in person to recognize the people who make everything in the lab work.
For labs we can’t reach in person, we’re hosting virtual lunch-and-learns to stay connected and make sure they’re part of the celebration too.

This year’s Lab Week theme, chosen by the ASCP, is "Lab Story: To Infinity and Beyond for our Patients!" It takes inspiration from the Toy Story movie franchise, and it couldn’t feel more fitting. At its core, Lab Week is about relationships: teams supporting each other, organizations supporting their labs, and partners standing alongside the people they serve.
At Voicebrook, that message resonates deeply. We work closely with laboratory professionals every day, seeing firsthand the pressures they’re under and the critical role they play in patient care. We believe that supporting labs means more than delivering technology. It means showing up and being part of the community.
So as Lab Week approaches, it’s safe to say that we’re really looking forward to it. Though we try to show our appreciation to our clients every day, we can’t wait to show up for Lab Week and demonstrate that they've truly “got a friend in us.” Be sure to follow Voicebrook's social media next week to get a glimpse into some awesome celebrations!
