Ensuring the Security of AI in Pathology Reporting: Voicebrook’s Commitment

In an era where digital innovation is transforming healthcare, Voicebrook stands at the forefront with the launch of DraftDiagnosis, our cutting-edge generative AI feature for pathology reporting. As we embrace these advancements, we are acutely aware of the importance of maintaining robust security measures. Ensuring the safety and privacy of patient data is our utmost priority.

The Importance of Security in AI-Powered Solutions

The integration of AI in pathology reporting offers unprecedented benefits, from enhanced accuracy to improved efficiency. However, these benefits must not come at the cost of data security. Pathologists and healthcare providers need to trust that their data is handled with the highest standards of security and privacy. At Voicebrook, we understand this responsibility and have implemented comprehensive security measures to protect your data.

Microsoft Azure OpenAI: A Secure Foundation

DraftDiagnosis leverages the power of Microsoft Azure OpenAI services, a platform renowned for its robust security protocols. Here’s how Azure ensures the security of your data:

  1. Authorization:
We host our own instance of Azure OpenAI that is isolated for network usage and application usage. This means that no third party actors can access our OpenAI service considering the network protection and application-level authorization.
  1. Data Encryption:
Azure provides end-to-end encryption, ensuring that data is protected both at rest and in transit. This means that all data processed by DraftDiagnosis is encrypted, making it inaccessible to unauthorized parties.
  1. Data Privacy and Non-Persistence:
One of the standout features of Microsoft Azure OpenAI services is its commitment to data privacy. The platform does not save any input data after processing is complete. This means that once DraftDiagnosis has generated the preliminary diagnostic draft, the data is immediately discarded and not stored on Azure’s servers. This non-persistence policy ensures that patient data is never retained beyond its immediate use.
  1. Compliance with Regulations:
Microsoft Azure adheres to a broad range of compliance standards, including HIPAA, GDPR, and other international regulations. This compliance framework ensures that DraftDiagnosis meets the stringent security and privacy requirements essential for handling sensitive healthcare data.

Developing DraftDiagnosis

To develop DraftDiagnosis, Voicebrook provided the AI model with a real-world set of example inputs and corresponding outputs, along with a custom prompt. This training process was conducted under strict ethical guidelines to ensure that no sensitive or identifiable patient data was used. Here’s how we ensured security during the training phase:

  1. Anonymized Data Sets:
The training data used for DraftDiagnosis was fully anonymized, stripping any personally identifiable information to prevent any potential privacy breaches.
  1. Controlled Access:
Access to the training data was restricted to a small group of authorized personnel, ensuring that only those directly involved in the development of DraftDiagnosis could access the data.
  2. Selective Data Usage:
Throughout the training process, we carefully selected and used only the necessary portions of report data, ensuring that the data used was limited and handled responsibly.
  1. Static Application Security Testing (SAST):
During development, we regularly use SAST tools to scan our code for security vulnerabilities, ensuring that our software remains secure and resilient against potential threats.
  1. Dynamic Application Security Testing (DAST):
Before product releases, we regularly undergo a DAST scan for penetration testing of our AI-related web services.

Continuous Monitoring and Improvement

At Voicebrook, security is an ongoing commitment. We continuously monitor our systems and update our security measures to counter emerging threats. Our partnership with Microsoft ensures that we stay ahead of the curve, leveraging the latest advancements in security technologies.
