CAP25 Is Coming Up. Are you heading to Orlando for CAP25? The College of American Pathologists' annual event, scheduled for September 13-16, is rapidly approaching!
The CAP's annual meeting kicks off on September 13, leveraging the collective knowledge of member experts with comprehensive, relevant CME courses; round table discussions; and networking events.
It's the biggest annual event where pathology professionals can connect with colleagues and influential members at the Cancer Data Summit, House of Delegates Meeting, Residents' Forum, 2025 Honors in Pathology Awards Ceremony, and the inauguration of the CAP's 39th president, Qihui "Jim" Zhai, MD, FCAP.

Predicted Pathologist Shortage. Anatomic pathology and clinical pathology will have the biggest shortage of physicians in the future, according to a recent report from Axuall, a healthcare workforce intelligence company.
The 2025 Clinician Workforce Insights Report analyzed data points including claims data, facility affiliations, utilization rates and average tenures to predict which specialties will have the greatest physician shortages and surpluses.

Anatomic pathology and clinical pathology physicians ranked #1 in Axuall's top five anticipated shortages. At the same time, pathologists ranked among the report's top ten specialties in patient volume.
AAPA Annual Meeting. It's the Golden Anniversary for the American Association of Pathologists' Assistants annual conference! This September marks the AAPA's 50th Annual Conference. The event is scheduled for September 7-11 in Denver.
This year, the event will be hybrid to accommodate both in-person and virtual attendees.
For 50 years, the AAPA has been providing pathologists' assistants with professional and continuing education, bringing nationally and internationally recognized speakers to the annual conference to discuss the most current topics challenging today's pathologists' assistants, pathologists, and the practice of anatomic pathology. Attendees can earn up to 23 PACE credits.
