Six Beneficial and Cool VoiceOver Commands for Sunquest PowerPath

Before I started working for Voicebrook, I had extensive experience working with PowerPath both at Yale University and as a member of the Sunquest and Elekta teams. A major reason I came to work with Voicebrook was that I found their Sunquest PowerPath speech recognition solution to be very beneficial and really cool!  For the purposes of this blog, I wanted to share with you six VoiceOver commands and features that could help you save time and improve your reporting experience in PowerPath (and are also pretty cool).

1. Flagging Cases

One of the coolest features is the ability to add case flags with a simple command. You might say something like “Flag Tumor” from PowerPath or within Microsoft Word while dictating, and in the time it took you to say that, the case is flagged and you are back to dictating.  It is lightning fast!

2. Default Dictation Tab

When you open a case, do you go right to the History tab or do you prefer the Results tab?

You always have the option to use a command to open the tab you want to view. “Show History” will take you to the history tab, for example.

To streamline your workflow even further, when you dictate the case number to open a case, VoiceOver has a configuration setting for each user that allows you to set your preferred default tab.  Each time you open a case using VoiceOver, it will automatically take you to that tab to continue your dictation workflow.

3. Folder Navigation

Whether you work out of the Assigned Cases view or the Case Explorer view, VoiceOver has simple commands to navigate to your desired folders. Say “Show my Pending Surgicals” to open the pending surgical cases in your ‘Surgical’ folder. “Find my Cases” will navigate you through the Case Explorer to your specific folder. There is no additional mouse clicking!

4. Image Navigation by Voice

You can easily navigate to the Images tab by saying “Show Images," then open individual images with a simple command, no matter how many images are associated with the case. You can even use commands to zoom in or out as well as move to the next image without closing the current open image.  This is just one of several ways that we help our users remain hands-free!

5. Modify CPT Codes While Reporting

Perhaps you want to change the CPT codes on a case. Simply say “Change CPT” to bring you back to the case (leaving the report open but in the background), and use additional commands to modify individual CPT codes. When done, say “Save Changes” to return to your dictation in Word.

6. Auto Insert Specimen

VoiceOver has the ability to determine how many specimens are in a case, and then insert the appropriate number of parts into the report body. For example:  if there are 3 specimens,  then by issuing standard commands to start your dictation we can automatically insert A., B., and C. into your report in the correct format. This results in easy navigation using your preference -- either issue voice commands or "talk and tap" the foot pedal to move from one specimen to the next.

These are just some of my favorite PowerPath-specific features and voice commands.  The list of processes that we can automate goes on and on. If you are an existing customer and you currently don't use these commands, please contact support so that we can help you get started.  If you see an opportunity to automate other things that you do frequently while reporting, please send us a request at support@voicebrook.com.
